Bacon Wrapped Hot Dog with Kimchi Relish

Bacon Wrapped Hot Dog with Kimchi Relish

Earlier this year, Chris and I visited Ann Arbor and we stopped by a Korean diner in Kerrytown for lunch.  Chris ordered a bacon wrapped hot dog deep fried with kimchi on it.  It was pretty interesting! It inspired me to make my own at-home version so here it is —slightly healthier.  I don’t normally eat hot dogs but when you get the organic kind with no nitrates or additives you feel better about eating it.

Ingredients:

  • 4 bacon slices (I used apple smoked bacon)
  • 4 organic beef hot dogs (better and healthier for you –no nitrates, no additives)
  • 4 hot dog buns
  • 4 tablespoons of kimchi relish

Preparation:

Take one bacon slice and wrap it around one hot dog so it’s mostly/completely covered with bacon.  In a large sauté pan over medium high heat, cook your bacon wrapped hot dog until it’s brown and crispy.  Put the hot dog in a bun and top it with 1 tablespoon of kimchi relish.

  1. This. looks. amazing. I have always loved kimchi, and I also happen to love bacon and (secretly) hot dogs. Definitely giving this a try! I saw your kimchi relish recipe – do you also make your own kimchi?
